Frida Polli Tackles Societal Challenges with AI

Frida Polli, a visiting innovation scholar at MIT, is working with Sendhil Mullainathan to develop algorithms that work synergistically with humans to address societal challenges in education, healthcare, poverty, and other areas. Polli's background as the co-founder of pymetrics and her experience in promoting transparency in technology through Alethia AI have prepared her for this role. She has received recognition from various outlets including Inc., Entrepreneur, and The New York Times, and is also an advisor at the Buck Institute’s Center for Healthy Aging in Women.

ACM Research Hit with US Export Controls

The US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security has imposed additional controls on exports to China related to advanced integrated circuit products, certain manufacturing equipment and technology, and supercomputers associated with artificial intelligence and advanced computing. As a result, ACM Research (Shanghai), Inc., a Delaware corporation founded in California in 1998, was added to the Entity List published by BIS due to its subsidiary's operations in China. The company has 140 semiconductor-related entities listed on the list, including 120 capital equipment suppliers. Despite this, ACM believes that the impact on its business and supply chain will be manageable due to alternative sources and suppliers, but may affect sales to customers in China.
