Meta Platforms Inc. has been hit with a complaint in Norway over its plans to use user data from Facebook and Instagram to train artificial intelligence models. The Norwegian Consumer Council claims that the process for opting out of this practice breaches strict EU data protection rules. The council also alleges that Meta’s design patterns and wording are deliberately vague and deceptive, making it difficult for users to understand their options. This is not the first complaint Meta has faced in Europe regarding user data collection; previously, the company was accused of failing to obtain proper consent before collecting data for targeted advertising purposes.
