Meta Platforms, owner of Facebook, plans to use publicly shared social media content from Europe to train its generative AI models, known as Llama. The company will exclude private posts and messages when training these models. This approach aligns with how Meta treats data from other regions around the world. Users in the European region and UK will be notified about how their public information is used to develop and improve AI. Advocacy group NYOB has filed complaints, citing insufficient notifications and a need for opt-in consent under EU privacy rules.
