UAE Introduces New Higher Education Framework

Published on 4.5.25

The UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has introduced a new framework for licensing higher education institutions and accrediting academic programs, aiming to improve quality and streamline the process. This move is part of the country's Zero Government Bureaucracy program, which aims to reduce administrative burdens on institutions. The University Evaluation Framework assesses institutions based on six key pillars: governance and leadership, teaching and learning, research and innovation, community engagement, student experience, and institutional resources. The framework uses predefined performance indicators to evaluate each pillar, ensuring a comprehensive and data-driven assessment of higher education institutions in the country. According to Dr. Muthanna Al-Hassan, Vice Chancellor of AUD, "The new framework will provide a more transparent and efficient process for institutions like ours." The UAE's Higher Education Council has also welcomed the move, stating that it will help to enhance the quality of higher education in the country. With the ability to obtain licenses in just one week, institutions can focus on providing high-quality education and research opportunities for students. The Ministry's efforts are aligned with the country's vision to become a global hub for knowledge and innovation.
