The Gujarat government's initiative to promote job opportunities for visually impaired individuals has taken a unique turn with the organization of a car rally in Ahmedabad. This event is part of the state's efforts to implement job quotas for people with disabilities (PWDs) in public-sector departments, as emphasized by MPA Munir Hussain Lughmani.
The initiative has already shown positive results, with Raghunatha Reddy securing a seat at NIT Calicut after Minister Lokesh intervened last year. Several other differently abled students have also secured seats in prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs.
Mohammad Bilal, chairman of Right to Live, a visually impaired organization, stressed the importance of such events in raising awareness about PWD rights and urged the government to implement effective legislation to ensure their inclusion. The car rally aimed to provide equal access to employment for people with disabilities, with winners receiving certificates and cash prizes.
The success of this initiative has also inspired others, with Electronics and IT minister Nara Lokesh congratulating C. Raghunatha Reddy on launching an AI startup, demonstrating that people with disabilities can achieve great things with the right support and opportunities.
