Disability Inclusion in Global Education Efforts

The Amman-Berlin Declaration has set a goal for 15% of development projects to promote disability inclusion, but currently only six percent meet this target. In the context of education, Chancellor Angela Merkel committed to a 15% target on inclusive education, announcing a joint initiative with Jordan. This commitment is in line with King Abdullah's emphasis on recognizing human potential and creating environments where everyone can contribute. The UK's FCDO has taken steps to promote disability inclusion in education through its commitment to an Assistive Technology Investment Vehicle. This initiative is part of the country's broader efforts to support people with disabilities, including co-chairing the Global Action on Disability Network. UNICEF has also pledged to allocate 10% of its budget to children with disabilities by 2030. IDA aims to strengthen organizations of persons with disabilities in over 100 countries, which could have a positive impact on education and disability inclusion globally.
