Perth Parents Demand Change After Son's School Attack

Parents of an 8-year-old boy with ADHD, Mason Farmer, are calling for systemic change in schools to better handle bullying and behavior management. Mason was attacked at his school in Perth's eastern suburbs on April 2 after making a "popping sound" with his mouth, which is a self-soothing technique used by some neurodivergent children. His mother, Erin Farmer, wants teachers to have more power and resources to deal with such situations, citing her son's experience as an example of the need for change.

Unqualified Therapists Prey on Vulnerable UK Patients

The UK's mental health system is plagued by unqualified therapists who pose as experts despite lacking the necessary skills to treat vulnerable individuals. A middle-aged woman spent four years and thousands of pounds on therapy for depression, only to feel worse and more hopeless after her sessions, which seemed more like casual chats than therapeutic sessions. Her symptoms were severe, including command hallucinations, but the therapist failed to recognize their gravity. Thankfully, she sought help from her GP, who referred her to proper psychiatric care. The issue lies in the lack of regulation and oversight, leaving patients unsure who is qualified and capable of providing effective treatment.
