Pakistan Retaliates Against India's Kashmir Actions

Pakistan has responded to India's actions in Indian-administered Kashmir by expelling Indian diplomats and cancelling visas for Indian nationals, except for Sikh pilgrims. In retaliation, India has suspended a water-sharing treaty, closed the main land border crossing with Pakistan, downgraded diplomatic ties, and withdrawn visas for Pakistanis. Pakistan has also warned that any attempt to stop the supply of water from the Indus River would be considered an "act of war" and responded with full force across all domains.

China Denies US Tariff Negotiation Claims

China has denied any active negotiations with the US administration over tariffs, calling claims of progress "groundless" like trying to catch wind. China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated that any consultations or negotiations must be conducted on a basis of mutual respect and equality. In contrast, US President Donald Trump claimed there was a meeting between him and Chinese officials, saying it didn't matter who they were. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously indicated a "very successful bilateral meeting" with South Korea, but Trump later stated that negotiating with dozens of countries would be physically impossible.

India Accuses Pakistan of Supporting Cross-Border Terrorism

India has accused Pakistan of supporting "cross-border terrorism" after a deadly attack in Pahalgam, India's tourist hotpot, which killed 26 men, including one Nepali national. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to identify and punish those responsible, saying he would pursue them "to the ends of the Earth". In response, Pakistan held a national security meeting and suspended key agreements with India, including the Indus Waters treaty, while also downgrading diplomatic ties. The move is seen as largely symbolic, but some fear it may be an opening salvo for potential military action.

India Closes Border After Pahalgam Terror Attack

India has taken several measures to downgrade its relations with Pakistan following a deadly attack in the tourist town of Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 people, including 25 Indians and one Nepali. Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Misri announced that the main land border between India and Pakistan would be closed immediately, and a water-sharing agreement governing the Indus River system would be suspended. Pakistani nationals are barred from traveling to India under the SAARC visa exemption program, and the defense advisor at Pakistan's high commission in New Delhi has been declared persona non grata. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack as "heinous" and vowed to bring the attackers to justice, while Defense Minister Rajnath Singh threatened those responsible with punishment.

India Expels Pakistani Diplomats from Delhi

India has taken several measures in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, including declaring Defence/Military, Naval and Air Advisors at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi Persona Non Grata with a week's notice. India will also withdraw its own advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The Integrated Check Post at Attari will be closed immediately, but those who have valid endorsements can return through it before May 1, 2025. Pakistan's support for cross-border terrorism has led to the abeyance of the Indus Waters Treaty with immediate effect. Pakistani nationals are no longer eligible for SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas and any issued in the past are cancelled. The overall strength of High Commissions will be reduced to 30 by May 1, 2025, as directed by the Cabinet Committee on Security.

India Expels Pakistani Diplomats Over Terrorism Ties

India has summoned Pakistan's top diplomat, Saad Ahmad Warraich, and handed him an official notice declaring Pakistani military diplomats persona non grata. The move comes after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, citing Pakistan's support for cross-border terrorism. This decision may lead to an energy crisis in Pakistan as it relies heavily on the treaty for water supply.
