SK Telecom Hit by Malware Attack in April 2025

SK Telecom, South Korea's largest telecommunications provider, suffered a malware infection on April 13-14, 2025, when most employees were away for the weekend. The attackers attempted to steal USIM data, which could have been used to track people's location, bypass app security, or eavesdrop on communications. SK Telecom notified authorities and started an investigation after its IT team detected the intrusion. The company strengthened blocks of USIM swaps and abnormal authentication attempts and suspended service for accounts linked to suspicious activity.
