Tencent's AI Helps Decipher Ancient Chinese Inscriptions

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools developed by Tencent Holdings are being used to decipher inscriptions on oracle bones in China. The oldest known form of writing in China, jia gu wen, dates back around 3,600 years. AI-powered platform Oracle Bones Corpus was launched by Tencent, allowing researchers to translate the writings by comparing images. The AI significantly improves efficiency and accuracy in character recognition, a major challenge. This collaboration aims to advance research on ancient inscriptions.
