Camille Claudel's 'Age of Maturity' Revealed

A recently discovered sculpture attributed to Camille Claudel is believed by experts to be a representation of her personal life and artistic style. The piece, titled "The Age of Maturity", features a girl on her knees alongside an older woman and a male figure, which are thought to represent the artist's longtime partner Rose Beuret and herself, respectively. The sculpture was cast in bronze by Eugène Blot, who owned exclusive rights to it and helped promote Claudel's work. Only three other complete versions of the piece exist, with one held at the Musée Camille Claudel in Nogent-sur-Seine and two larger casts at the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée Rodin.

Cindy Sherman & Yasumasa Morimura Unmasked

Caravaggio's Rare Portrait on Display in Rome

A rare painting by Italian master Caravaggio is going on display for the first time at the Barberini Palace in Rome from November 23 to February 23. The Portrait of Maffeo Barberini, a wealthy humanist and future Pope Urban VIII, was authenticated in 1963 by art critic Roberto Longhi as one of only a handful of portraits painted by Caravaggio. The painting features the subject's hands, with his left hand clutching a letter and his right hand emerging from the frame into the viewer's space, characteristic of Caravaggio's signature style.
