US Treasury Warns of Cyber Threats from China

The US Treasury department has expressed concern over threats to its systems and data, stating that it takes all such threats seriously. This concern is part of a broader issue where several countries, including the United States, have raised alarm about alleged Chinese-government-backed hacking activity targeting their governments, militaries, and businesses. The US Justice Department previously dismantled a network of hackers known as "Volt Typhoon" in February, which was said to be targeting key public sector infrastructure at the behest of China. Additionally, Microsoft reported that Chinese-based hackers breached email accounts of 25 organizations and government agencies, including those belonging to the State Department and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, in 2023.
