NTA Shifts Focus to Higher Education Entrance Exams

Education Minister Pradhan announced that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will only conduct entrance exams for higher education starting next year, ending its recruitment exam responsibilities. The NTA is set to be restructured in 2025 with ten new positions added and a focus on minimizing errors in testing. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) will continue to be held annually. Discussions are underway about potentially switching the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) from pen-and-paper to computer-based testing, aligning with the government's goal of adopting technology-driven entrance exams. These changes aim to address issues related to exam leaks and glitches that led to a high-level panel's recommendation for examination reforms.
