The US government has declared a genocide in six instances since the end of the Cold War, with the most recent being against Myanmar in 2022. The declaration was made after the International Justice Court found the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) guilty of genocide in Sudan's Darfur region. As a result, sanctions were imposed on RSF leader Mohammad Hamdan Daglo Mousa, also known as Hemedti, for his role in systematic atrocities committed against civilians, including mass rape and gross violations of human rights.

47.2 Million Children Displaced by Global Conflicts

According to a UNICEF report, by the end of 2023, approximately 47.2 million children had been displaced due to conflict and violence, with an additional number displaced in 2024 due to escalating conflicts in Lebanon, Palestine, Haiti, Myanmar, and Sudan. The report highlights the devastating impact of these conflicts on children, particularly in Gaza where Israel's genocidal campaign has killed over 45,000 Palestinians, including at least 17,400 children, with many more missing or wounded. UNICEF officials have expressed concern that a generation of children is becoming collateral damage to the world's unchecked wars, and have criticized Western countries such as the US, Britain, and Germany for their complicity in the conflict by providing Israel with military aid and diplomatic support.
