UMich Offers Year-Round Mental Health Services

The University of Michigan is launching a new program to provide mental health and substance use services to its students. The program will cover costs not covered by Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or Aetna PPO plans, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses. The services will be available year-round, including during winter and summer breaks, unlike the previous program which was only available during the academic year.

Kelowna Woman Raises Funds for Youth Recovery Centre

Turgeon, a Kelowna woman, is organizing the annual "Parade With A Purpose" to raise money for a youth treatment and recovery centre in Kelowna. The event has raised over $200,000 so far this year, with a goal of $250,000 that will be matched by an anonymous donor. The funds will support the Bridge Youth and Family Services organization's project to build a much-needed facility addressing the community's growing concerns about substance use and overdoses, as highlighted by Kelly Paley, director of community engagement for Bridge Youth and Family Services.
