British Families Pay Out-of-Pocket for Long COVID Care

The National Health Service (NHS) in Britain is struggling to provide adequate care for children with long COVID due to financial constraints, forcing families to seek private treatment. Parents who have tried NHS paediatric long COVID clinics, which mainly offered non-medical therapies, are now being told their services are being disbanded. As a result, some families are paying for private consultations, tests, and off-label treatments that have shown promise in improving their children's conditions, with mixed results - some report improvements while others feel increasingly hopeless.

A new study of 5,000 British women found that nearly all (78%) who experience debilitating period pain have been told by a medical professional it's normal, despite the average sufferer experiencing three days of pain per month equivalent to 1,350 periods. Many women (31%), including 9% and 24%, describe their pain as excruciating or intense, while 47% find their periods unmanageable due to lack of energy. The study also found that many women are forced to spend hours in bed or unable to leave the sofa due to pain.

Chloe Cole Demands Federal Ban on Minors' Trans Surgeries

Chloe Cole, a former child transitor, is urging lawmakers to ban sex change surgeries for minors at the federal level due to what she calls "the abuse" of children who were misled into transitioning. Cole, who began transitioning from female to male at age 12, regrets her decision after undergoing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, as well as a double mastectomy, which left her with scars and bleeding. She is calling on Congress to enact legislation to stop the practice, citing the need for federal action beyond state-level regulations.
