Google's AI Shift Confuses Android Developers

Google's internal branch of Android source code, used by brands under GMS agreements, has become increasingly complex and confusing for developers. This is partly due to Google's shift in focus towards artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities on its various software platforms. For instance, the company has been investing heavily in AI-powered features like Google Assistant and Google Lens, which are integrated into Android devices. As a result, some internal branches of the code have become redundant or outdated, making it challenging for developers to navigate between the two versions of the source code.
