ICE Agents Avoid Arrests in Sensitive School Zones

Immigration agents are generally reluctant to make arrests in sensitive locations such as schools due to concerns about the potential for negative publicity and political backlash. According to Jason Houser, a former chief of staff at ICE under President Joe Biden, immigration agents would typically avoid making arrests in schools unless there is an imminent threat to safety. Former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli also agrees that immigration agents tend to steer clear of enforcement activities at schools and other sensitive locations, citing the potential for negative public perception.
