China is facing a growing concern over senile dementia due to its aging population and increasing life expectancy. According to Xinhua, there are currently over 16 million people in China suffering from dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, which accounts for nearly 30% of the global total. To address this issue, the government plans to establish a comprehensive prevention and control system by 2030, which will include widespread cognitive screenings for the elderly, early intervention for those at risk, expansion of care services, and training of dementia care personnel. The goal is to have dedicated care units for seniors with dementia make up more than 50% of elderly care institutions and to train 15 million dementia care personnel by 2030.
