The World Economic Forum (WEF) has reported that technological shifts are expected to significantly impact the workforce in the UAE and Middle East and North Africa region over the next five years. According to the WEF, 87% of UAE companies believe there will be a growing need for technological literacy, with skills such as artificial intelligence, big data, networks and cybersecurity also in high demand. The report found that 91% of UAE firms expect AI and information processing technologies to drive business transformation, while 66% identified robots and autonomous systems as key drivers. In the region, 46% of employers are expecting an improvement in the hiring outlook by 2030, with Saudi Arabia and the UAE leading the way in accelerating automation. However, the report also notes that skills gaps in the labour market are expected to hinder business transformation, with two-thirds of employers citing this as a top barrier.

He stressed the need for a global agreement on ethical AI usage to promote transparency and stability.
