Small businesses are increasingly turning to generative artificial intelligence (gen AI) to gain a competitive edge, with one-third experimenting with the technology and a quarter already seeing its benefits. According to a survey of 1,300 small business owners by Gusto, gen AI-equipped small businesses are 45% more likely to fill open roles than those that do not use the technology. Additionally, business owners report that AI is becoming critical to their role as "chief everything officer," enabling them to execute on leadership functions and financial growth goals.
