Hollywood Union IATSE Reaches AI-Protected Deal with Studios

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) has reached a tentative 3 year deal with major studios that includes protections against the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The agreement ensures that no employee will be required to provide AI “prompts” in a way that would displace any covered employee. This is similar to a previous labor agreement between the SAG-AFTRA actors union and studios, which also included provisions around AI use in filmmaking.
