EU to Force AI Firms to Disclose Data Sources
August 15, 2024
The European Union’s AI Act is expected to require AI firms to disclose the datasets they use to train their models, a move aimed at preventing future lawsuits such as those faced by Microsoft-backed OpenAI. In the US, OpenAI has been sued for allegedly using copyright material without permission, including a lawsuit filed by the New York Times. A similar issue arose in Denmark when a dataset called “Books3” was removed from a website after a copyright protection group raised concerns about its unauthorized use of copyrighted material.
