AI-Powered Tool Improves Patient-Provider Cultural Attunement

Mpathic, a leader in AI-powered conversation analytics, has received a National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award to develop its generative AI tool, Empathy for Everyone. The project aims to improve patient-provider cultural attunement in real-time, particularly for underserved racial and ethnic populations. Mpathic’s technology uses natural language processing and generative artificial intelligence to detect and correct for cultural biases in mental health AI models. The company will employ its AI model on conversational data from Wave, a virtual mental health care provider, to improve cultural attunement in real-time interactions between providers and patients. This project aims to bridge the gap in mental healthcare for marginalized communities and improve therapeutic outcomes and patient satisfaction.
